We will have theoretical classes in a classroom, which include the projection of videos, and practical classes with simulation of situations in real locations.

It is a super intensive and updated course, where we will cover the following topics: safety in white waters, water’s force, whitewater categories and terminology, currents, hydraulic effect, strainers, personal equipment, communication, swimming position, river crossing, use of ropes and throw bags, trapped person and extrication methods, knots, anchors, pulleys, direct contact with victim, hypothermia, drowned person.

This course is audited by Prefectura Naval Argentina (Argentine Naval Prefecture) and is endorsed by Parques Nacionales (National Parks).

Participants must be prepared to get wet and swim in rapids. Therefore, they need the following equipment: neoprene or wet suit, neoprene boots with sole (or trainers with laces), neoprene, fleece or synthetic socks, 2 carabiners and 4,5 meters of tubular webbing. Extremo Sur will provide participants with: life vests, helmets, equipment for rescue techniques practice and rescue manual. If you do not have any pieces of equipment, you can hire them from us.

The Manso River gives us the ideal setting for practices in the water and we teach the theoretical classes at Los Rápidos Camping Site's rooms, equipped with video and boards. Classes start early in the morning, so we recommend you spend the night at the camping site. Meals are not included, but the camping site has a store and a bar and you can also cook at the camping places. The camping site offers breakfast and hot meals.

Our courses can also be given in other places. If the organization you work for wishes to receive training, we can deliver the courses at the place you choose. Please, contact us for further information.
